Guess what! Two films from our catalogue land in it this year’s Berlinale selection.

Syllas Tzoumerkas’ The Miracle of the Sargasso Sea will be screened in Berlinale Panorama whereas Story by Jola Bańkowska will screen in Generation section.

The Miracle of the Sargasso Sea is Syllas Tzoumerkas’ third feature after A Blast (2015) and Homeland (2010). Syllas Tzoumerkas describes the rural Greece-set film as a tense drama-thriller, a film about dignity and redemption. Set In a small eel-farming town in the west of Greece, two women live solitary lives while dreaming of getting away.

Story is a reflection on modern man in an age of omnipresent technology. Looking through stories – a popular function in many social media platforms – we see people who are lonely, lost or already indifferent about reality surrounding them. Action takes place during one day and it’s told by short, often (auto)ironic scenes, where virtual world sinks to reality. Produced by Munk Studio and co-produced by Letko.

See you in Berlin!
