Great news! This Magnificent Cake! directed by Emma de Swaef and Marc James Roels, is going to be distributed by legendary GKIDS in the US.
It will be release theatrically in Los Angeles on March 1, 2019. This mid-length film is also currently nominated for an Annie Award in the category of Best Independent Animated Feature.
This Magnificent Cake! is Emma & Marc follow-up on their festival hit Oh Willy…. Set in colonial Africa in the late 19th century, This Magnificent Cake! tells the stories of five different characters: a troubled king; a middle-aged Pygmy working in a luxury hotel; a failed businessman on an expedition; a lost porter; and a young army deserter.
The film is produced by Beast Animation (Belgium) in co-production with Vivement Lundi (France) and Pedri Animation (The Netherlands).
The film premiered on the 50th anniversary screening of Cannes Director’s Fortnight.
