We are thrilled to announce that Grímur Hákonarson’s THE COUNTY has been selected for the prestigious Les Arcs work in progress section.
We will present selected clips from the new feature by RAMS’ director, Grímur Hákonarson in Les Arcs to celebrate the festival’s 10 years. The work in progress event was pivotal in the international success of films, such as RAMS by Grímur Hákonarson, GIRL by Lukas Dhont and I’M NOT A WITCH by Rungano Nyoni – all selected for Cannes Film Festival in the year following the Les Arcs presentation.
THE COUNTY is a story of Inga, a middle aged dairy farmer, who loses her husband she must stand on her own two feet. She decides to start a new life on her own terms and rises up against corruption and injustice in her community.
The film was produced by Netop Films (Iceland) and co-produced by Profile Pictures (Denmark), One Two Films (Germany) and Haut et Court (France), who will also release in France.
The film was already presold to many territories including UK/Ire (Curzon), Australia/NZ (Palace), Switzerland, (Xenix), Benelux (Imagine), Hungary (Vertigo), Greece (Strada) and Scandinavia (Scanbox).
