We are thrilled to announce acquisition of Hlynur Pálmason’s new feature, A White, White Day. It is a second feature of Icelandic director after successful drama, Winter Brothers, which premiered at Locarno Film Festival and was screened in the Discovery section of the Toronto International Film Festival.
A White, White Day is set in a remote Icelandic town, where an off duty police chief begins to suspect a local man for having an affair with his wife, who recently died in a car accident. Gradually his obsession for finding out the truth accumulates and inevitably begins to endanger himself and his loved ones. A story of grief, revenge and unconditional love.
The lead role is played by famous Icelandic actor Ingvar E. Sigurðsson, best known for his involvement in Friðrik Þór Friðriksson’s Angels of the Universe and Baltasar Kormákur’s Jar City. Pálmason wrote the screenplay, joined by Maria von Hausswolff (Winter Brothers, Parents) as the DoP and Julius Krebs Damsbo as the editor (The Return, Winter Brothers).
The film was produced by Join Motion Pictures, in co-production with Denmark’s Snowglobe and Sweden’s Hob.
It will be pitched at Göteborg’s Nordic Film Market (Jan 31.-Feb 3) as work in progress and will be completed in spring 2019.
