press quotes
The freewheeling nature of the raps are so well-integrated into the narrative it makes me want to see Terpínska take on a Goodfellas-style (Martin Scorsese, 1990) movie. She’ll certainly be able to find the right milieu.
Other People is a cocky and raunchy social hip-hopera dressing the hollow consumerism, purposelessness, and poverty for the next-gen aesthetic mannerism – the rawness of Shameless (U.K. version) meets the fluid cinema formalism.
Winning best debut at Gdynia Polish Film Festival and the FIPRESCI Prize at Tallinn, Other People is making waves across Poland and Eastern Europe.
the film is mesmerising, like watching a reflection in a hall of mirrors. Terpińska’s debut grabs your attention and provides a strangely guilt-ridden pleasure, since all of the characters in Other People are just like all of us, only a little more twisted, shrunk or magnified.
